Job summary

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Midwife to join our maternity triage as a Band 6 Triage Midwife. The role includes first point of assessment for pregnant and postnatal women, with a comprehensive preceptorship and support for new starters.

A part-time option across inpatient and community settings, including homebirth on-call, is available. All applicants should have UK midwifery registration and an NMC pin.

Qualifications

• Registered Midwife with UK registration.
• ENB 997/MSPP and NVQ assessor qualifications.
• Evidence of further study and continuing professional development.
• Satisfactory enhanced DBS check with no disqualifications.

Responsibilities

• Triage midwife assesses pregnant and postnatal women using BSOTS to prioritise urgency.
• Undertake structured assessment, maternal and fetal observations, identify risk factors, provide advice and reassurance.
• Arrange investigations and treatment; escalate concerns to obstetric or multidisciplinary teams.
• Support patient flow, safe decision-making and timely referral within the maternity pathway.
