Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an organised and highly accurate Accounts Assistant to join our Financial Accounts team. Reporting to the Treasury Accountant, you will help deliver an efficient treasury service and support daily cash handling and reconciliations.

You will record cash and cheque receipts, maintain cash books, prepare weekly banking, allocate income and expenditure, operate card terminals and step in to cover other treasury duties when required.

Qualifications

• Five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including Maths and English.
• Experience in a finance or cashiering environment preferred.
• High numeracy, IT literacy and proficient with spreadsheets.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Record and allocate cash and cheque receipts to ledgers.
• Collate cheque requisitions with back-up and authorisation.
• Reconcile cash book to bank statements for all accounts.
• Prepare weekly petty cash for cashiers.
• Operate the Streamline debit card terminal and allocate payments.
• Identify and allocate income/expenditure across bank accounts.
• Maintain cash books.
• Cover other treasury functions during absences.
