Job summary

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics with a special interest in spinal surgery. The post is permanent and full-time, based primarily at Luton & Dunstable Hospital with sessions at Bedford Hospital.

The appointee will contribute to a three-person spinal team, support regional networks, and lead MDTs while developing sub-specialty interests and improving patient pathways.

Qualifications

• FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) or equivalent
• MD or equivalent higher degree or evidence of relevant research
• Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
• Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register in Trauma and Orthopaedics

Responsibilities

• Perform general on call and trauma commitments and spinal surgical management
• Teaching and training of junior medical staff and medical students
• Participate in Clinical Governance and audit
• Active CPD participation
• Undertake elective clinics and regular spinal surgery lists
