East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust seeks a full-time substantive Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics with a keen interest in Lower Limb surgery to join the directorate. Subspecialty interest in hip and knee arthroplasty is required, with metastatic bone disease experience advantageous.
You will undertake elective and fracture outpatient clinics, participate in elective and trauma operating sessions, and carry ward rounds with related administration.
We are seeking to appoint a full time, substantive Consultant with an interest in Lower Limb surgery to work within the directorate of Trauma and Orthopaedics. We welcome applications from the full spectrum of experience - those about to complete specialist training to those who have established careers. Subspeciality interest in hip & knee arthroplasty is required. Experience in management of metastatic bone disease would be advantageous, We expect this person to help deliver and network the Orthopaedic service within Lancashire. This includes:
On call duties are 1:8 week of on call shared with a colleague alternating days. All other weeks are based on elective activity and an occasional trauma list. The successful applicant will complement the team of established consultants and wider MDT within the directorate. The post is subject to the Trust's terms and conditions of service. The post will have sessions at both Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Burnley General Teaching Hospital., The Emergency Department at Blackburn is the only ED for East Lancashire and is a Trauma Unit in the Lancashire Trauma Network working closely with the Trauma Centre at the Royal Preston Hospital. The ED is supported by Urgent Care Centres at Blackburn and Burnley and a Minor Injuries Unit at Accrington.
Services are provided from our two main sites, the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Burnley General Teaching Hospital. They are also provided from our community sites at Pendle Community Hospital, Accrington Health Centre, Clitheroe Community Hospital and Rossendale Health Centre.
