Job summary

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust leads the Trauma Assessment Unit and Fracture Clinic, seeking a motivated Department Leader to guide the nursing team and streamline acute musculoskeletal care within the service expansion. You will work with the Clinical Matron and Service Manager to shape future developments.

Qualifications

• Experience in trauma or orthopaedic nursing with significant experience and passion for managing and leading a team.
• Demonstrated attributes of a competent Department Leader.

Responsibilities

• Line-management responsibilities for the nursing team (Registered Nurses, Assistant Practitioners, Plaster Technicians, Healthcare Assistants).
• Provide clinical leadership to ensure high-quality, evidence-based, seamless service.
• Manage workforce and financial resources within their clinical area.
• Act as a role model and skilled practitioner to inspire excellence and professionalism.
• Lead recruitment and retention of a skilled nursing/midwifery workforce with Clinical Matron support.
• Facilitate development of staff within the team.
• Promote continual improvement of patient care through research and audit.
• Represent the specialty in corporate forums, operational groups and committees.
