Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a Residential Child Care Worker in Fordingbridge, Hampshire. You’ll support children who have experienced trauma in a therapeutic, family-like setting and work across shifts, including sleep-ins, to ensure continuity of care.

You will build warm, trust-based relationships, assist with education and activities, and collaborate with professionals to promote development and wellbeing. A driving licence is needed for home vehicle transport.

Qualifications

• Aged 21 or over.
• Full, clean UK driving licence (home vehicles are used for transport).
• Compassionate, patient, and resilient with warmth and calm in challenging situations.
• Flexibility to work weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people.
• Good communication and accurate record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored emotional and practical care to meet each child’s needs.
• Build trusting, therapeutic relationships and act as a positive role model.
• Support school runs, activities, and family contact using home vehicles.
• Plan and facilitate recreational and educational activities to promote development.
• Support children to achieve personal developmental milestones.
• Carry out household duties and maintain a warm, welcoming environment.
• Complete daily records, logs, and health and safety checks.
• Collaborate with social workers, educators, and other professionals.
• Work 24-hour shift patterns, including weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins.
