Job summary

Compass Community Schools is opening a brand new school in Newton-le-Willows, welcoming its first pupils in January 2027. The role of Teaching Assistant involves supporting children with complex behaviours in a trauma-informed setting, providing 1:1 and small-group support, and contributing to a positive, inclusive learning environment.

We emphasise therapeutic training, frequent reflective practice and collaboration with the wider team to deliver exceptional outcomes for every child.

Qualifications

• TAs support children with complex and challenging behaviours.
• Need a good basic understanding of English and Maths.
• Willingness to participate in therapeutic training and reflect on practice.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning.
• Work with children 1:1 and in small groups.
• Manage classroom resources.
• Take children on educational trips and visits.
• Have lunch with children who struggle socially.
• Maintain safety with strong behaviour management and clear communication.
• Create, play and teach games to develop social skills and learning.
• Create displays to support teaching and learning.
• Celebrate successes.
• Participate in therapeutic training sessions.
