Job summary

Social Interest Group (SIG) in London’s Kensington and Chelsea area is seeking a Support Mentor to assist residents in our supported accommodation. You will identify needs, create tailored plans, and work with partners to enable independence and wellbeing.

The role focuses on trauma-informed, person-centred support to help residents move towards longer-term housing. We value empathy, lived experience, and the ability to collaborate across teams.

Qualifications

• Previous professional or lived experience supporting people who have multiple and complex needs.
• Ability to engage with people from different backgrounds, build rapport, and empower them to achieve their personal goals.
• Ability to show empathy and compassion and the different challenges people face; ability to come up with creative solutions to support them in their journey.
• Ability to use, learn and adapt to IT at an intermediate level, including Microsoft and other software programs.
• Ability and willingness to show flexibility of working patterns, responding to the needs of the service and residents.
• Alignment with our values of Ambition, Empowerment, Inclusivity, and Transparency.

Responsibilities

• Support residents who may be facing challenges with homelessness, mental health, substance use, or feeling independent
• Create tailored support plans through one to one sessions, group sessions, and multi agency meetings
• Support residents to build skills and confidence to support move on to long-term independent living
• Monitor residents’ wellbeing, carrying out regular welfare checks, and responding to any incidents or emergencies.
• Plan and deliver activities to engage residents with other people, communities, and opportunities. This may include days out the service and in service activities
• Keep support plans updated on our online portals as appropriate
