Job summary

Affinity Workforce in Bristol is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH in Alternative Provision settings. Full-time, 8:30 am–4:30 pm, with required driving licence and vehicle for escort duties.

You will work 1:1 or 2:1 with students, promote wellbeing and engagement, and collaborate with staff and families to provide holistic support. Rolling DBS checks apply and training is provided.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH in education settings.
• Driver with access to own vehicle and business-use insurance or willing to obtain.
• Ability to transport pupils safely to activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or 2:1 support to pupils within a nurturing, trauma-informed environment.
• Promote learning, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour through tailored support strategies and structured activities.
• Work closely with students who have EHCPs, particularly in Years 10 and 11, delivering consistent and intensive support.
• Facilitate enrichment opportunities and community-based learning experiences that encourage growth, confidence, and social interactions.
• Act as a positive role model, helping pupils develop resilience, self-esteem, independence, and social skills.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, mentors, families, and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
• Safely transport pupils to and from school, visits, and planned activities.
