Job summary

Spire Assist Limited is seeking a Children’s Residential Support Worker to provide day-to-day care, emotional support and practical guidance to young people in a residential setting in London. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to implement personalised care plans, support education and independence, and follow safeguarding, medication and data-protection procedures.

The role involves direct contact with young people who may have experienced trauma or have complex needs,

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year’s experience in a similar residential or supported setting (working with children/young people).
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain) and right to work in the UK.
• Level 3 Diploma or working towards it; relevant safeguarding training and first aid.
• Training in trauma-informed practice and awareness of autism/ADHD.

Responsibilities

• Work with the team to implement and review care plans, behaviour support plans, risk assessments and health plans.
• Provide 24-hour, person-centred support: personal care, emotional support, life skills and routines.
• Administer medication safely and complete accurate records.
• Build positive relationships with young people based on trust and consistency; act as a key worker when required.
• Keep accurate written and electronic records, contribute to reports and attend reviews/meetings.
• Supervise and support young people on trips, appointments and community activities; attend meetings with schools, social workers and healthcare professionals.
• Participate in training (safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, de-escalation, first aid) and maintain mandatory learning.
