Job summary

Caretech is seeking a Residential Support Worker to help 11–18 year olds who have experienced trauma thrive in a therapeutic care home. You will provide daily care, emotional support, and help build routines that foster safety and healing.

You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to care planning, and participate in shifts including sleep-ins and weekends. A compassionate, resilient candidate with safeguarding knowledge will fit well.

Qualifications

• Experience with vulnerable children or young people in care, education, or youth work.
• Understanding safeguarding and child protection for trauma-affected youths.
• Emotional resilience and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible, proactive attitude to hours and responsibilities.
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Commitment to personal and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care and emotional support to children aged 11–18.
• Build trusting, trauma-informed relationships.
• Manage challenging behaviours with empathy and consistency.
• Support educational, social and recreational activities.
• Administer medication per care plans and maintain records.
• Collaborate with social workers, therapists and safeguarding teams.
• Contribute to care planning and attend reviews.
• Work on a shift rota including sleep-ins and weekends.
