Job summary

The Cambian Group is seeking a compassionate Residential Support Worker to join our therapeutic residential care homes in Hull. You will support 11–18 year olds who have experienced trauma, guiding them to build life skills, resilience, and healthy routines.

You will work as part of a skilled, multi-disciplinary team, receive strong supervision and training, and have opportunities to progress while helping vulnerable children heal in a safe, family‑like environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with vulnerable children or young people in residential settings, education, or youth work.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection in trauma contexts.
• Emotional resilience and patience under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to develop professionally and work flexible hours.
• Driving licence is preferred for outings.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care and emotional support to children aged 11–18.
• Build trusting, therapeutic relationships using trauma-informed approaches.
• Manage challenging behaviours with empathy and consistency.
• Support education, social activities, and healthy routines.
• Administer medication per care plans and keep records.
• Collaborate with social workers, therapists, and safeguarding teams.
• Participate in shift rotas, including sleep-ins and weekends.
