Job summary

Phoenix Domestic Abuse Services is seeking a dedicated Parenting Support Officer to work 35 hours per week in our office, with occasional evening sessions to support families. You will conduct assessments, deliver trauma-informed interventions, and collaborate with partners to safeguard children and adults.

The role emphasises CAPVA understanding, risk management and rebuilding parenting skills within a holistic All Family Approach.

Qualifications

• Experience of working directly with parents, carers, children, young people or families.
• Experience of assessing needs and identifying risks.
• Experience of managing a caseload and maintaining accurate case records.
• Experience of developing and maintaining professional relationships with other agencies.
• Experience of working within safeguarding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, strengths-based and trauma-informed support to parents and carers affected by domestic abuse.
• Complete appropriate assessments to identify parenting strengths, needs, risks and desired outcomes.
• Deliver structured interventions to support parents to understand impact of domestic abuse on themselves and children.
• Support parents to develop practical strategies for managing conflict, distress and challenging behaviours.
• Promote positive parenting, healthy boundaries, emotional regulation and safe communication.
• Support parents to build confidence, resilience and protective factors.
• Empower parents to develop their own solutions and increase safe family relationships.
• Provide support on a voluntary basis with safeguarding and risk considerations.
• Ensure children's experiences, wishes and wellbeing remain central to intervention planning.
