Job summary

Wiltshire Council is seeking a Homeless Early Intervention Officer to support households at risk of homelessness. The role involves upstream, preventative support across Salisbury, Trowbridge or Chippenham, with outreach to hospitals and community venues to reach hard-to-reach families.

You will empower clients to understand their tenancy rights, maintain their housing and access essential services, using budgeting and income-maximisation guidance to reduce vulnerability.

Qualifications

• Provide vital advice and support to clients to understand tenure rights, maintain housing and prevent homelessness.
• Support with maximising income and budgeting to sustain housing.
• Assist with mediation to prevent family exclusion and connect clients with essential services.

Responsibilities

• Provide outreach advice and support in communities across Wiltshire.
• Work from hubs in Salisbury, Trowbridge or Chippenham and in hospitals, community centres or clients’ homes.
• Empower clients to navigate challenges of cost-of-living and housing crises with a trauma‑informed approach.
