Job summary

Five Rivers Child Care in the West Country is seeking a compassionate Fostering Support Worker to support children and foster families. You will travel across the West Country, with a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends to suit placement needs.

You will work with foster carers, Supervising Social Workers and other professionals to deliver placement plans, build relationships, and provide stable, child‑centred support.

Qualifications

• Qualities: warm, reliable, able to build positive relationships with children, young people and adults.
• Experience in fostering, social care, education, youth work or transferable skills.
• Willingness to learn as part of a supportive fostering team.

Responsibilities

• Support the safety, wellbeing and day‑to‑day experiences of children and young people in care.
• Spend time with children in a thoughtful, trauma‑informed way to help them feel heard.
• Deliver agreed pieces of support work contributing to placement plans and positive outcomes.
• Build trusted relationships with foster carers and families to provide practical help and encouragement.
• Plan and support activities and group work to help children grow in confidence and interests.
• Encourage children to share views and participate in decisions affecting them.
• Keep clear records and assist with reports in line with safeguarding and data protection.
• Stay organised and communicate clearly with the fostering team.
