Job summary

Five Rivers Child Care Ltd. is seeking a compassionate Fostering Support Worker to help children and young people in the West Country. The role involves travelling across the region, mainly Somerset, North Devon and South Devon, with a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle required.

You will work evenings and weekends as needed, building strong relationships with foster carers and families. You will provide practical and emotional support to placements, contribute to placement plans,

Qualifications

• Warm, reliable and able to build positive relationships with children, young people and adults.
• Experience in fostering, social care, education, youth work or supporting families is desirable.
• Confident working independently, adaptable to changing priorities and keen to learn as part of a supportive fostering team.

Responsibilities

• Support the safety, wellbeing and day-to-day experiences of children in placements.
• Spend time with children in a trauma-informed way to help them feel heard and supported.
• Deliver agreed pieces of support work contributing to placement plans and outcomes.
• Build trusted relationships with foster carers and families and provide practical help and encouragement.
• Plan and support activities and group work that help children grow in confidence and enjoy positive experiences.
• Encourage children to share their views and participate in decisions affecting them.
• Keep clear records, contribute to reports and share information in line with safeguarding.
• Stay organised and communicate clearly with the fostering team.
• Work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and after-school hours when needed.
