Job summary

Cheshire East Council invites applications for a permanent part-time Family Support Worker based in Macclesfield. The role is 18.5 hours weekly across Wednesday mornings and Thursday and Friday all day, delivering community-based support to children, young people and families.

You will work closely with families, identify needs, develop care plans, maintain records and liaise with other agencies to secure resources while upholding safeguarding and statutory requirements.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Child Care or equivalent.
• Experience with children/young people, including trauma or challenging behaviour.
• Experience of working with multi-agencies.
• Knowledge of children’s services frameworks, Families First Reforms and safeguarding.
• Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities.
• Ability to write cohesive, persuasive reports and communicate effectively.
• Commitment to continuous learning and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key worker for a small group of children, families in the community.
• Devise and review individual care plans/pathway plans to meet identified needs.
• Maintain effective record systems for reports and care planning.
• Liaise with other agencies, parents and professionals to mobilize resources.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and departmental policies.
• Network within local communities to broaden resources for children in need and families.
