Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an experienced Early Years Improvement Advisor to develop and support high quality early years provision. You will offer guidance and training to providers, champion the needs of disadvantaged children and ensure EYFS principles are embedded in practice.

You will work with internal services and external partners, disseminate safeguarding messages and travel across Leicestershire, including out-of-hours work as required.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant level 6 qualification with outstanding early years practice.
• Excellent understanding of statutory duties and the EYFS phase and Early Years SEND code of practice.
• Experience observing and evaluating quality learning and providing feedback as part of the early year's improvement processes.
• Experience of staff development and training.
• Have effective presentation skills including good communication skills, both written and oral.
• To be assertive, confident and sensitive to the needs of others and cope with pressure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support high quality early years provision across the childcare sector.
• Provide advice, guidance and training as set out in the local authority's statutory duty.
• Champion the needs of children, particularly the most disadvantaged, ensuring access to high quality early education and childcare.
• Signpost to relevant agencies for further support and lead EYFS principles in practice.
• Work with internal and external partners and travel across Leicestershire.
• Disseminate safeguarding messages and embed safeguarding competencies.
