Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an experienced Early Years Improvement Advisor to join the Early Years Inclusion and Childcare Service. You will develop and support high quality provision across childcare, offering guidance and training to settings judged less than expected by Ofsted.

The post requires a Level 6 qualification and travel across Leicestershire; DBS enhanced checks are required. Flexible/hybrid working options may apply; closing date 20 October 2026 and interviews on 28

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant level 6 qualification with outstanding early years practice.
• Excellent understanding of statutory duties and EYFS/early years SEND code of practice.
• Experience observing and evaluating quality learning with feedback as part of improvement processes.
• Experience of staff development and training.
• Excellent presentation skills with strong written and oral communication.
• Be assertive, confident and able to cope with pressure.
• Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships and motivate others from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support high quality early years provision across the childcare sector.
• Provide advice, guidance and training per statutory duties to ensure high quality provision for pre-schools, nurseries and childminders.
• Champion needs of disadvantaged children and families and enable access to high quality early education and childcare.
• Guide providers in using the EYFS principles in practice; support safeguarding.
• Signpost to relevant agencies and disseminate safeguarding messages.
• Lead strategies to embed EYFS in providers' practice and collaborate with internal/external partners.
• Travel across Leicestershire as required.
