Job summary

Release is seeking a Debt Adviser to join its multidisciplinary legal services team. The role involves receiving debt referrals from the legal services team and providing high-quality, non-judgmental debt advice to clients facing financial hardship and related issues.

The postholder will help implement standard screening, referral routes and client tools across the outreach network. The role is 35 hours per week with a mix of home-working and office-based work (3 days in the office).

Qualifications

• Trauma-informed approaches used in client work.
• Ability to write clear case notes, letters and reports in plain English.
• Experience delivering debt advice in community, advice, legal or outreach settings.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialist debt advice through referrals to support clients in trusted settings.
• Complete financial assessments, income/expenditure work and debt screening.
• Advise on debt options including Breathing Space, DROs, negotiated arrangements, and referrals.
