Job summary

Wilderness Way is seeking a Children’s Residential Team Leader to guide shifts, coach frontline staff and drive trauma-informed care within the home. You will ensure safe, high-quality support for children while mentoring colleagues and coordinating with families and professionals.

The role requires a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent, and leadership experience in residential settings. A UK driving licence is needed; sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, Children and Young People's Workforce, or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience in residential childcare, including supporting children with emotional, behavioural or complex needs.
• Bring leadership experience via coaching, mentoring, shift leadership or staff development.
• Be 21 or over due to regulatory requirements.
• Have the right to work in the UK; sponsorship is not available.
• Hold a full UK driving licence and be comfortable driving as part of your role.
• Bring resilience, sound judgement and a positive approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead shifts and decisions to ensure safe, consistent, high-quality care.
• Coach, mentor and support Residential Support Workers and Senior Workers.
• Champion trauma-informed care to foster nurturing environments.
• Ensure children’s voices are reflected in care and support.
• Promote education, wellbeing, and independence through daily opportunities.
• Oversee care plans, risk assessments and records to maintain standards.
• Lead safeguarding on shift and assist in safe decision making.
• Collaborate with families, schools and therapists to achieve positive outcomes.
• Support audits, inspections and continuous improvement to sustain excellence.
• Deputise for senior leaders and help run day-to-day home operations.
