Job summary

Greencore is recruiting at Hatfield for a depot role on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern from 6am to 6pm. The successful candidate will help allocate trained resources, uphold safety and food hygiene standards, and lead a diverse team to meet operational plans.

You will document procedures, support audits, and drive continuous improvements across the operation. Training and development are on offer within a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Basic maths and strong written/spoken English.
• People management experience in diverse teams.
• Food safety level 1 and Health & Safety level 2 required or in development.
• Experience using handheld devices for operational tasks.
• Training or development opportunities offered by Greencore.

Responsibilities

• Ensure trained resources are allocated to activities safely to execute the plan.
• Identify issues affecting safe/legitimate execution and prevent unsafe behaviours.
• Provide leadership to support people in their roles and development.
• Maintain accurate admin procedures and reporting for audits.
• Conduct inductions and training with records signed and filed.
• Communicate improvement opportunities from trends affecting service, safety or profit.
• Ensure drivers are safe and vehicle records are accurate prior to road use.
• Participate in risk assessment, investigations, inspections and corrective actions.
• Assist with permit-to-work and scheduling/planning of fleet maintenance.

Hatfield:

A major picking depot, employing more than 180 colleagues and operating a fleet of more than 80 vehicles. The depot serves major convenience retailers in the region.

You will be working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, from 6am to 6pm, pay rate is £16.95/hour.

What you’ll be doing

• Ensure competently trained resources are allocated to work activities with safe equipment to execute the operational plan
• Investigate and communicate issues affecting the safe and legal achievement of the budgeted operational plan and, where required, prevent unsafe behaviours or use of unsafe equipment
• Provide leadership and direction to ensure that people are supported in their roles and can effectively do their job or escal
• Ensure the administrative procedures and operational information is accurate and available for reporting operational performance and the requirements to demonstrate control in the event of an audit or investigation
• Conduct operational inductions and training as required and ensure the records are signed off accurately for filing and entry to the onsite training matrix
• Communicate opportunities for improvements where trends and deficiencies are evident and affect the quality of service, safety, food hygiene or profit of the operation
• Consistently execute the process to ensure and demonstrate drivers are safe and legally entitled to drive the nominated safe and legal roadworthy vehicle planned for work prior to deploying on the road ensuring records are stored and accurate
• Actively participate in the risk assessment, accident investigation, operational inspections and behavioral monitoring processes that ensures a safe workplace and operation and appropriate corrective actions
• Effectively execute the permit to work controller responsibilities ensuring records are filed correctly and actively assist with scheduling and planning of maintenance activities for the vehicle fleet
