Greencore, a leading UK convenience foods group, is recruiting a Logistics Manager to lead inbound and outbound operations at our Spalding site.

You will drive distribution planning, safety, and budget management while building a high-performance team and strong supplier relationships. The role supports delivery of cost-efficient, safe, and reliable supply chains across our sites.

Qualifications

• Proven experience of people management and team engagement.
• Managing safety in the functional area (IOSH training).
• Understanding of best practice processes.
• Working with customers to build sustained relationships.
• Experience of managing budgets.
• Experience of logistics planning, scheduling and space management.

Responsibilities

• Drive the delivery of annual performance targets through planning and management of distribution activity to fulfil orders cost-effectively.
• Promote a safe working environment in line with Health and Safety plans and ensure equipment maintenance and replacement plans are in place.
• Create and control departmental budget to ensure variances are managed within spend.
• Identify and implement simplifications and process improvements to remove duplication and non-value-add activity.
• Liaise with suppliers and 3rd party logistics providers to minimise cost and meet customer needs.
• Monitor commercial and operations activities to adapt the logistics network to changing requirements.
• Develop a high-performance culture and guide the team to deliver targeted performance.
• Monitor material handling equipment to maintain safe and efficient operations.
• Ensure safe handling and storage of materials to maximise food safety and achieve operational plans.

What you'll be doing

We are looking for a Logistics Manager to lead the logistics function to ensure inbound and outbound operations are effective, operate safely and achieve financial targets.

• Drive the delivery of annual performance targets through appropriate planning and management of distribution activity, to ensure the ongoing fulfilment of orders at appropriate cost


• Promote, and actively manage a safe working environment, ensuring all tasks are conducted as defined in the site Health and Safety plan and equipment can be operated safely, with appropriate maintenance and replacement plans


• Create and control departmental budget, accounting for all cost and revenue streams, to ensure variances are managed within agreed spend


• Actively seek opportunities to simplify and streamline all work tasks, drawing on best practice, to remove duplication and non 1 value adding activities and remove cost


• Liaise with suppliers, third party suppliers and logistic providers calling on procurement (when required), to minimise cost and meet changing customer needs


• Monitor commercial and operations activities to recognise and understand the impacts of the functional area and adapt the logistics network to respond to changing needs


• Develop a high-performance culture where processes are optimised and team members are guided to deliver targeted performance and achieve their potential


• Monitor the use of material handling equipment so that a safe and efficient working environment is promoted at all times


• Ensure appropriate handling, management and storage of materials so that food safety is maximised and the operational plan can be achieved
