Job summary

Indigo Search Ltd in Wolverhampton is seeking a hands-on Transport Supervisor to manage a small team of drivers and office staff, supervise a mixed fleet, and stand in for the Operations Manager when required.

The role offers exposure to all areas of the business, with training and career development including Management CPC if needed, and a track record of rewarding talent in a busy logistics environment.

Reporting into the Logistics Manager, this is an exciting White Collar Logistics role with a business that wants to develop, coach & mentor you into a Logistics Manager of the future.

This business has a reputation of retaining its Logistics talent and of being a good place to work.

THE ROLE:

• Supervisor of a Transport department - including a team of drivers, small office team and a small fleet of vehicles (HGV's and Vans).
• Standing in for the Operations Manager when they are away from the business.
• Negotiation with suppliers, carriers and customers.
• Transport Planning.
• Engagement of your team.
• Thinking commercially at all times.
• Other operational requirements as they arise - this is a well established medium-sized business so you will have a wider scope than within a blue-chip business.
• Exposure to other parts of the business at the right times in order to develop your career.
• Training, Coaching and even vocational courses will be provided, including Management CPC (if needed).

THE PERSON:

• Transport operational experience.
• Transport Management CPC qualified - DESIRABLE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL.
• Able to commute to & from the Wolverhampton area on a daily basis.
• Strong "Can Do" attitude as this is a highly demanding industry where no day will ever be the same.
• A strong-minded person who can deal with a fast-paced & ever-changing operation.
• Supervisory experience within a Transport setting.
