Full-time: Permanent (Nights)

Salary: £40,513.36 - £50,645.45

Position Summary: Plan and manage a team of drivers, shunters, and clerks to achieve daily workload and meet productivity and service level targets. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation related to health & safety, employment law, EU standards, and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage own and plan adjacent shifts to meet or exceed budgets.
  • Establish clear & documented handovers from your shift, including issues, achievements, productivity, accuracy, and problems.
  • Deliver accuracy in all customer credit processes.
  • Ensure staff are trained, competent, and managed under performance.
  • Ensure drivers are professional representatives of the company, appropriately attired and presentable.
  • Conduct staff assessments and appraisals every six months.
  • Deputise for senior management when requested.
  • Plan and control labour usage to meet budget and productivity goals.
  • Manage holiday requests and ensure adequate staffing coverage.
  • Plan future shifts considering forecasted volumes, holidays, and absences.
  • Implement improvements based on journey duration evaluations.
  • Support shift start meetings and weekly financial reporting.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience with scheduling systems (e.g., Paragon)
  • Familiarity with AS400/JD Edwards
  • Knowledge of current industry legislation and developments
  • CPC certification preferred but not essential
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy
