Job summary

Avara Foods Ltd. is seeking an experienced Transport Shift Manager to lead the Hereford transport operation. You will drive safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement while coordinating with the Chargehand and management team.

You will oversee driver performance, compliance documentation, and vehicle maintenance, ensuring timely deliveries and adherence to legal requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in leading teams within a transport environment or similar.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
• Excellent attention to detail and proactive problem-solving approach.
• Ability to work under pressure and make effective decisions.
• Solid understanding of health & safety and food hygiene standards.
• Proficiency with computer systems and production data tracking.
• Lead, motivate and support teams in a fast-paced operation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the transport shift, including transport systems like Tachomaster and Telematics.
• Conduct driver debriefs and ensure driver records and compliance documentation are complete.
• Monitor vehicle and trailer servicing schedules and maintenance plans.
• Review tachograph data, identify infringements, and take action.
• Ensure transport operations comply with legal requirements and safety standards.
• Investigate accidents or incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate training schedules for drivers and team members.
• Participate in shift and on-call rotas as required.
• Oversee transport of live birds to Avara sites to maintain supply and efficiency.
• Support Chargehands in managing performance of drivers and catching teams.
