Job summary

Avara Foods Ltd. is seeking a Hatchery Transport Manager to lead the transport operations across its hatcheries, ensuring safe, compliant and cost-efficient movement of day-old chicks, hatching eggs and related materials.

You will review processes, standardise transport practices across UK hatcheries, and work Monday to Friday with travel between sites, maintaining a robust fleet and coordinating with external maintenance providers.

Qualifications

• Previous experience managing a transport operation.
• CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of transport legislation and fleet management.
• Experience leading and developing operational teams.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and identify efficiency improvements.
• Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills under pressure.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Competent in transport management systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage transport operations across the hatcheries.
• Ensure safety, compliance, and cost-effective movement of day-old chicks and eggs.
• Develop transport schedules and optimise routes.
• Monitor fleet performance, fuel consumption, and costs.
• Oversee driver management and behaviour.
• Coordinate with external service providers and maintenance contractors.
• Ensure regulatory compliance including Operator licensing and Working Time Directive requirements.
