Job summary

GXO Logistics is seeking a Transport Shift Manager at our Hams Hall depot for Sainsburys. You will lead a busy operation, manage budgets, and drive safety, performance and service levels across a 37.5-hour week on a rotating days/nights pattern.

You will build an engaged team, coach and develop talent, own KPIs, and champion continuous improvement while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and ensuring compliant, on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Must be an experienced transport operations leader with CPC accreditation.
• Proven ability to lead large teams and manage budgets.
• Strong focus on safety, service quality and continuous improvement.

• Build, coach and develop a powerhouse team with clear reviews and succession planning.

As our Transport Shift Manager, you will be joining our large operation in our Hams Hall depot, for our customer Sainsburys.,

• Run a safe, slick, high-performing shift - leading from the front to deliver results, control costs, and keep Health & Safety non-negotiable
• Build, develop, and inspire a powerhouse team through coaching, training, meaningful reviews, and clear succession planning
• Own the numbers - manage budgets, track KPIs, explain variances, and turn performance data into action
• Make every shift better than the last by driving accountability, fixing root causes, embedding right-first-time processes, and championing continuous improvement
• Keep everyone aligned and informed with clear communication, professional stakeholder management, and sharp end-of-shift handovers
  Cool under pressure and always up for the challenge, bringing commitment, flexibility, and enthusiasm to even the busiest shifts
• A confident, persuasive communicator who can influence at every level, make smart analytical decisions, and keep customers happy
• A natural transport operations leader (International CPC essential) and motivator, able to build engaged, high-performing teams that take ownership and deliver consistently
• Switched on to the operation, spotting issues before they land, planning ahead, and keeping things running smoothly, safely, and on target

  This is a full time, permanent position with 37.5 hours per week contracted. Working any 5 days out of 7, on a rotational shift pattern of days/nights that will fall between the hours of 06:00 am to 18:00 pm and 18.00 pm to 06:00 am.
• Pay, benefits and more: We're looking to offer a salary of up to £46,125 per annum (+ night shift premium), and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts.
