Job Description
We are now seeking a Transport Shift Manager to join our Transport team at our Goole site on a full-time permanent basis!
As a Transport Shift Manager, you will work collaboratively to ensure the effective running of a busy transport operation, ensuring that operational KPIs are met and that operations are conducted in accordance with legal requirements. You will also help formulate and deliver short, medium, and long-term resource plans for your area.
Working hours: 4 on 4 off, 06:00-18:00
Salary: Up to £38,000 per annum
Key Duties of Transport Shift Manager
- Work collaboratively with our Myworkforce team to ensure compliance with all activities and tasks, including resource planning and managing the safety and cost-effective utilization of drivers and equipment.
- Own, monitor, and control the driver de-briefing process to ensure standards of performance are maintained through effective communication and management.
- Manage and support the driver workforce to ensure full legal compliance, maintaining accurate records in accordance with procedures.
- Manage all aspects of driver performance to meet or exceed expectations and KPIs.
- Promote company health & safety and employment policies within the transport operation.
- Ensure personnel files are up to date, including license validation, personal details, and training records.
- Conduct site audits and work closely with the Transport Manager to ensure KPIs are met.
- Support daily operational workflow on the customer site by providing timely answers to urgent queries.
- Collaborate with the customer and site management team to address performance concerns or questions promptly.
- Manage recruitment of permanent and temporary staff to cover business peaks.
- Report all accidents, dangerous occurrences, and near misses to the Transport Manager & H&S team, ensuring relevant reports are completed.
- Identify and escalate maintenance and repair issues on site and within the depot.
- Ensure daily vehicle checks, inspections, and defect reporting procedures are followed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in the Transport & Logistics industry.
- Successful resource management experience.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Experience working to defined service delivery KPIs.
- Strong understanding of health and safety processes.
- Energetic with a desire to generate and drive improvements.
- Good people engagement skills, self-driven, with a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a customer-facing environment.
