Job description

Due to continued growth, we are now recruiting for a Transport Supervisor to join our team at our Markham Vale site on a full-time permanent basis!

Salary: £36,555 per annum.

Working Hours: 4 on 4 off, 7pm-7am.

As a Transport Supervisor, you will be responsible for the 24/7 transport operations, managing the transport supervisors and supporting the transport manager in ensuring that costs are controlled in line with budget/forecast expectations.

Job responsibilities include:

• Communicating with the transport manager and planning teams to maximize backloads, identify cost-saving opportunities, trailer utilization, and cost efficiency.
• Ensuring effective planning and utilization of drivers and subcontract haulage for deliveries from multiple warehousing sites.
• Acting as a point of escalation to handle queries via telephone, fax, and email from customers, subcontract hauliers, and warehousing sites.
• Building and maintaining good working relationships with team members, vendors, hauliers, and partners.
• Liaising with traffic and administration teams to ensure high standards of performance.
• Reporting problems and resolving issues/queries that arise.
• Communicating daily with operational teams, vendors, and customers regarding network/route plan changes.
• Continuously seeking cost reductions through tactical route changes.

Qualifications:

• Previous transport and office experience with high transport knowledge in a busy environment.
• Experience in transport policy, strategy development, master planning, and transportation systems.
• CPC National qualification is desirable but not essential.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong planning and organizational skills, high numeracy.
• Excellent communication skills for delivering accurate information.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other IT skills.
