Job summary

Kirklees Metropolitan Council is seeking a Transport Policy Project Officer to lead the development of transport policy and support the delivery of bus, rail and active travel initiatives in the region.

You will collaborate with WYCA, develop policy, engage stakeholders, and help shape sustainable, accessible transport across Kirklees and the North of England. The role offers a clear progression path and a chance to influence major transport projects.

Qualifications

• Practical experience of the application or development of policy.
• Experience of partnership working.
• A passion for sustainability and creating accessible transport linkages.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of transport policies such as the West Yorkshire Local Transport Plan 4 and transport themes within the Kirklees Local Plan.
• Advocate for policies and decisions which maximise funding for bus, rail, mass transit and shared transport.
• Organise and facilitate stakeholder workshops to build consensus around policy development.
• Build highly effective relationships with stakeholders across Council services and partners.
