Job summary

Kirklees Metropolitan Council is seeking a Transport Policy Project Officer to shape the future of transport in Kirklees. You will lead the development of transport policy and support the planning of public transport networks to support economic growth and sustainability.

Work with partners across the Council and West Yorkshire Combined Authority, organise stakeholder workshops, advocate for funding, and help integrate new mass transit and active travel initiatives.

Qualifications

• Practical experience of the application or development of policy.
• Experience of partnership working.
• A passion for sustainability and creating accessible and innovative transport linkages between places.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement transport policies such as strategic plans and local policy frameworks.
• Advocate for funding across bus, rail, mass transit and active travel initiatives.
• Organise and facilitate stakeholder workshops to build consensus around policy development.
• Build effective relationships with stakeholders across Council services, partners and transport operators.
