Pertemps is recruiting a Transport Planner in Edmonton on a temporary 3-month assignment. The role involves coordinating daily deliveries and collections, booking delivery slots, liaising with customers and drivers, and ensuring on-time departures and timely collections.

Qualifications

• Previous transport planning or coordination experience.
• Good knowledge of UK geography and route planning.
• Experience working with vehicles from 3.5T up to HGV Class 1.
• Understanding of driving legislation and vehicle loading requirements.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and Excel.
• The ability to work independently and use initiative.
• A proactive and adaptable approach.

Responsibilities

• Co-ordinating daily deliveries and collections, ensuring work is planned and allocated efficiently.
• Arranging delivery and collection booking slots with customers.
• Keeping customers updated on expected arrival and collection times.
• Liaising with customers to ensure their transport requirements are met.
• Allocating work to drivers via the PDA and driving scheduler.
• Checking driver loads before vehicles leave the depot and upon their return.
• Co-ordinating the collection and return of equipment from suppliers and other depots.
• Liaising with third-party transport providers.
• Contacting customers the day before deliveries and collections to confirm requirements.
• Providing regular transport reports to the Transport Manager.
• Ensuring deliveries leave the depot on time and collections are completed within the required timescales.
• Supporting the wider transport operation and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
