Transport Planner Job Overview

1. Supervise a team of drivers, issuing work daily.
2. Monitor and adjust the transport plan as necessary to ensure optimum efficiency.
3. Allocate jobs and brief drivers on delivery criteria required.
4. Ensure all key tasks are completed in a timely manner to meet the needs of the business.
5. Proactively communicate with customers regarding any delays with loading & unloading of loads.
6. Ensure fleet compliance using management software to produce reports, analysis, etc.
7. Plan vehicles for inspection, service, or repairs as required.

Transport Planner Job Requirements

• The successful candidate will have previous experience within a similar role, be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and have excellent communication skills.
• Be proactive and able to work under their own initiative.
• Computer literate with experience of Transport Management Systems.
• Good UK road network and national geographic knowledge are essential.
• Ability to work individually or as part of a team.
• Ability to make decisions under pressure and within tight timescales.
