My client is actively looking for a Transport Planner or Senior Transport Planner to join their team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be based in the Wakefield office and will have the ability to work from home on a regular basis. Working hours are 37.5 hours per week and part time will be considered. Salary will be dependent on experience.

With an extensive client and project portfolio and ambitious plans for growth, they have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join the Development Planning team.

The Role

As an experienced Transport Planner or Senior Transport Planner, you will be able to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of current and emerging land use and transport policies and have the ability to prepare high-quality technical documents, which might include:
·Transport Assessments and Statements;
·Development-related Travel Plans, ideally with an understanding of planning conditions / S106 requirements;
·Access Feasibility Assessments;
·Construction Traffic Management Plans.
There will also be an opportunity for you to work as part of our specialist Travel Plan implementation team, should this be an area of transport planning which interests you. Whilst this is not essential, we would be keen to hear if this diversification of the role would be of interest.
You will be a Transport Planner who takes pride in all that you do, works hard as part of a team and is keen to push yourself to progress in your career.

The ideal candidate will have:

·A demonstrable track record of preparing high-quality transport planning reports for a range of development types.
·Experience of supporting more junior colleagues to develop in their career, passing on knowledge and skills, and ensuring the quality of their work.
·Excellent written and numeracy skills.
·Good communication skills, and a confidence to engage with other team members, clients and key stakeholders (including local highway / planning authorities).
·An ability to manage competing deadlines and work as part of a team to turn projects around in a timely manner.
·Demonstrable financial awareness, including experience of preparing fee proposals and an understanding of budget management.
·A desire to work in an SME consultancy environment, with the opportunity to be involved in the shape of the business in the future.
