Job summary

Great Bear is seeking a Transport Planner to join the Transport team at our Oldham site. You will oversee day-to-day transport planning, manage a busy workload and deliver cost-effective solutions to customers.

You will coordinate subcontracting, scheduling, and reporting, working with Traffic and Administration teams to uphold high performance. Knowledge of SAP/BPCS/Road Runner is advantageous.

Qualifications

• High level transport planning expertise in a busy environment.
• Strong problem solving, analytical and organisational skills.
• Ability to make decisions under pressure and within tight timescales.
• Flexible and adaptable to peak periods and changing demand.
• Good communication at all levels within the business.
• Knowledge of SAP, BPCS or Road Runner is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily workload for a fleet based on site needs.
• Handle queries from customers, sub-contract hauliers and warehousing sites.
• Liaise with Traffic and Administration teams to maintain performance.
• Update spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
• Provide internal and external communications in a timely manner.
• Support fleet and driver training teams as required.
• Complete pre- and post-debriefs for driver shifts.

Job description

We are currently seeking a Transport Planner to join our Transport team at our Oldham site on a full time permanent basis!, As a Transport Planner you will oversee the day to day planning of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced at working in a busy transport department, able to deal with day to day challenges and provide cost effective solutions to the customer.

Key Duties of a Transport Planner:

• Subcontracting and planning orders out of multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
• Planning daily workload for a fleet: vehicles based on and off site.
• Dealing with queries and issues by telephone, fax and email from our customers, sub-contract hauliers and warehousing sites.
• Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to ensure the highest standards of performance are maintained at all times.
• Maintaining, creating and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
• Reporting problems and dealing with issues and any queries that arise.
• Support the fleet and driver training team as and when required.
• Complete pre and post de-brief for all driver shifts.
• Deliver effective, professional and timely internal and external communications.

• Knowledge of SAP, BPCS and Road Runner would be advantageous.
