Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Planner to join our established Transport division! Based in our central Manchester office, you will join a fun, highly engaged team who love what they do. Our team has a wealth of experience and offers support, development opportunities, and expert advice. Working collaboratively as part of our national team, you will be exposed to a wide variety of project work and practices.

Your role will include:

Supporting a wide range of transport projects within the public and private sectors, working with clients to provide effective solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Providing planning stage support for development schemes.
  2. Preparing and assessing technical documents and reports for planning submissions.
  3. Conducting technical assessments of junction performance using industry-standard traffic modelling software.
  4. Drafting Travel Plans and sustainability assessments.
  5. Designing pedestrian and cycle routes.
  6. Designing new junctions and access points to the road network.
  7. Supporting planning appeals and public inquiries.

Our transport team advises developers, planners, and public bodies on travel behaviors influencing site development and infrastructure investment. We work on projects such as:

  • Electric vehicle charging modelling
  • Transport assessments
  • Vehicle and pedestrian modelling
  • Expert witness services
  • Electric Vehicle (EV) Advisory Services

We are a lively, good-spirited team excited about our work and welcoming new members.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in a relevant subject (preferably MSc in Transport Planning, but related degrees such as Civil Engineering, Geography, Planning, or Maths are also welcome).
  • Experience in traffic modelling, junction modelling, travel plans, and CAD design.
  • Experience in data analysis, interpretation, and presentation.
