Job summary

Tarmac is seeking a Transport Planner for our Mountsorrel Hub near Loughborough, Leicestershire. You'll be at the heart of coordinating customers, drivers and hauliers, making real-time decisions to keep deliveries moving.

You will monitor deliveries, plan next-day routes, manage communications, and drive fleet efficiency while maintaining service levels and safety. Hybrid options available after probation and a collaborative on-site team environment.

What You'll Be Doing

As a

Transport Planner you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of materials across the region. Working closely with customers, drivers, planners, hauliers and internal teams, you'll be at the centre of the operation, making real-time decisions and keeping deliveries moving.

Key responsibilities include:

• Monitoring same-day deliveries and handling customer queries and complaints professionally and effectively

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a busy, challenging environment who can

confidently manage competing priorities. Suitable candidates will have:

• Previous experience in a fleet planning, transport planning, logistics coordination or scheduling role
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritise and work effectively under pressure
• Strong customer service and telephone communication skills
• Outstanding attention to detail
• Confidence communicating with stakeholders at all levels
• Collaborative approach and strong team-working skills
• Commercial awareness and sound decision-making ability
• StrongIT skills and experience using planning or scheduling systems
• Knowledge of transport legislation (advantageous)
• Geographical knowledge of the Midlands region (preferred)

This role is based at our modern Mountsorrel Hub location near Loughborough, Leicestershire which is easily accessible from Leicester, Melton Mowbray, Barrow upon Soar, Syston, Shepshed, Coalville, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Ibstock, Swadlincote, Measham, Tamworth, Atherstone, Hinckley, Nottingham, Derby, Long Eaton, Kegworth, Burton upon Trent and surrounding areas.
