Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited, based at the Mountsorrel Hub near Loughborough, is seeking a Transport Planner to ensure smooth delivery of materials across the region. The role involves coordinating deliveries, communicating with customers, drivers and hauliers, and helping maximise fleet efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have experience in fleet or transport planning, strong organisational skills, and be able to work under pressure.

Qualifications

• Experience in fleet planning, transport planning, logistics coordination or scheduling.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise and work effectively under pressure.
• Strong customer service and telephone communication skills.
• Outstanding attention to detail.
• Confidence communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
• Collaborative approach and strong team‑working skills.
• Commercial awareness and sound decision‑making ability.
• Strong IT skills and experience using planning or scheduling systems.
• Knowledge of transport legislation (advantageous).
• Geographical knowledge of the Midlands region (preferred).

• Plan next‑day and future deliveries to maximise fleet efficiency.
• Manage inbound and outbound customer and driver communications.
• Proactively communicate delivery updates and service changes.
• Coordinate internal and external transport assets.
• Maintain accurate records and operational data.
• Manage costs while delivering excellent service levels.
• Raise and escalates any safety concerns immediately.
• Build strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.

The role is based at our modern Mountsorrel Hub location near Loughborough, Leicestershire. It offers hybrid working (one day per week after probation) and a varied, rewarding schedule.

What you're going to do

As a Transport Planner you will ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of materials across the region, working closely with customers, drivers, planners, hauliers and internal teams.
