Job Title: Transport Planner

Location: Bradford

Salary: £28k - £32k per year

About the Role

Our client is seeking an organised and proactive Transport Planner to join their team. The role involves ensuring the smooth, efficient, and cost-effective transportation of goods and services. Key responsibilities include route planning, vehicle scheduling, compliance, and communication with internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plan and optimise daily/weekly transport schedules and routes based on demand, capacity, and cost-efficiency.
2. Allocate vehicles and drivers according to availability, legal driving hours, and operational requirements.
3. Monitor and track deliveries to ensure timely and accurate completion.
4. Liaise with drivers, warehouse teams, and customers to manage changes or delays.
5. Maintain up-to-date records of transport activities, incidents, and compliance documents.
6. Analyse transport data and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.
7. Ensure all transport operations comply with relevant legislation, health and safety, and environmental standards.
8. Maintain records in the transport management system (Syrinx) and prepare jobs for invoicing.
9. Raise movement orders for plant machinery, ensuring orders are in place before delivery, especially for STGO products.

Requirements

• Proven experience in transport/logistics planning or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of transport regulations, including drivers’ hours and vehicle compliance.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Proficiency with transport planning software and MS Office.
• Effective communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments.
• Good geographical knowledge of the UK.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, pressured environment.
• Able to meet strict deadlines.

Desirable

• Knowledge of route optimisation tools (e.g., Paragon, SAP TM, Fleetmatics).
• CPC qualification or equivalent.
• Experience in FMCG, retail, or distribution sectors.
