Job summary

Great Bear (Part of the Culina Group) in Banbury is seeking a Transport Planner to join our busy team on a full-time permanent basis. You will oversee the day-to-day planning of the transport operation and provide cost‑effective solutions to our customers.

The ideal candidate will have proven transport planning experience, strong problem-solving and organisational skills, and the ability to make decisions under pressure. Working hours are 8:30am–5:30pm, Monday to Friday.

• Ability to make decisions under pressure, and to a tight timescale.
• Flexible and adaptable approach to working to meet business requirements, especially at peak periods.
• Be able to communicate well at all levels within the business.
• Ability to identify and suggest improvements to benefit both the Company and our customer.
• Highly motivated and able to work in a small team or on own initiative.
• Knowledge of SAP, BPCS and Road Runner would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Subcontracting and planning orders out of multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
• Planning daily workload for a fleet: vehicles based on and off site.
• Dealing with queries and issues by telephone, fax and email from our customers, sub-contract hauliers and warehousing sites.
• Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to ensure high standards of performance.
• Maintaining, creating and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
• Reporting problems and dealing with issues and any queries that arise.
• Support the fleet and driver training team as and when required.
• Complete pre and post de-brief for all driver shifts.
• Deliver effective, professional and timely internal and external communications.

Job Description

We would like to present you with an exciting opportunity for a Transport Planner to join our friendly team in Banbury on a full time permanent basis!

Salary:Up to £35,000 per annum depending on experience.

Working hours:Monday-Friday, 8:30am-17:30pm.

As a Transport Planner you willoverseethe day to day planning of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced at working in a busy transport department, able to deal with day to day challenges and provide cost effective solutions to the customer.

Key Duties of a Transport Planner:
