Job Title: Transport Operator / Planner

Role Overview:

Working with the planning team to ensure the effective operation of the Knowles Logistics fleet. Planning and managing freight movement across the country, ensuring strong operational logistics, and maintaining effective communication with the customer service team to meet customer demands and deliver excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Allocate daily plans to drivers and loads effectively.
• Follow and update daily operational plans, including system updates.
• Maximize driver hours within Tachograph and WTD regulations.
• Decide on vehicle requirements for shipments.
• Communicate issues or failures to relevant parties, including out-of-hours contacts.
• Proactively manage the fleet, adjusting plans as needed.
• Communicate plans clearly to drivers, ensuring proper scheduling for pickups and deliveries.
• Brief and debrief drivers about daily/nightly plans.
• Collaborate with driver debrief administrators.
• Ensure thorough handovers between shifts.
• Participate in daily operational meetings and provide timely updates.
• Work with planners to meet customer requirements.
• Monitor delivery costs and revenue daily.
• Review load plans and develop contingency strategies.
• Record all movements in relevant systems.
• Report concerns to the Head of Transport.
• Coordinate with team members on different shifts.
• Address delivery concerns with solutions.

Systems Management:

• Input driver and vehicle info into Road Runner for 24-hour planning.
• Update Road Runner with live load info during driver debriefs.
• Check warehouse management systems for load issues.

Cost Control:

• Minimize overtime, nights out, demurrage, and reduce agency labor through effective planning.

Customer Service:

• Answer calls professionally and handle inquiries.
• Communicate with drivers to resolve issues and plan loads effectively.
• Maintain a professional appearance and manner as a Knowles Logistics representative.

Teamwork:

• Promote teamwork with positive behaviors.
• Maintain health, safety, hygiene, and security standards.
• Encourage open discussions for decision-making and improvements.
