Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc is seeking an experienced Transport Supervisor for the Doncaster site supporting B&Q. You will lead the transport operation, develop the team, ensure safety and service standards, and drive continuous improvement.

The role involves coordinating rotas, managing budgets and ensuring regulatory compliance. The position is full-time, 48 hours per week, with a shift pattern of 06:00–16:00 and 09:00–19:00, Monday to Sunday on a 5-from-7 rota.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a transport/operations environment with compliance knowledge.
• Demonstrated leadership and people management experience, ideally in a unionised setting.
• Experience using computerised planning, scheduling and driver management systems and strong IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day transport operation, focusing on safety, service, cost and people performance against KPIs.
• Motivate and develop the Operations Team, including recruitment, training and performance reviews.
• Plan and organise driver/vehicle rotas to meet daily and weekly targets with scheduling systems.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, O-licence, Road Traffic Act and tachograph policies.
• Deliver high-quality service to customers and communicate effectively.
• Manage budgets, vehicle checks, hygiene programmes and system reporting (Microlise/CRM).
• Drive continuous improvement and cross-site collaboration.

Here at GXO, we are currently recruiting for aTransport Supervisor to join our Doncaster team, supporting our customer B&Q. Reporting to the CDC Manager, this role is responsible for the efficient, compliant and cost-effective running of the transport operation at the site. You will lead and develop a high-performing operations team, ensuring all legal, safety and service standards are not only met but exceeded. Through strong planning, people management and a continuous improvement mindset, you will play a key role in delivering operational excellence, customer satisfaction and a positive site culture.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 48 hours, any 5 from 7 and a rotating shift of 06:00 to 16:00 and 09:00 to 19:00.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £35,500, per annum and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Lead the day-to-day transport operation, managing safety, service, cost, and people performance against agreed KPIs
• Motivate, develop and manage the Operations Team, including recruitment, training, performance reviews, absence and conduct matters
• Plan and organise driver and vehicle rotas to meet daily and weekly targets using scheduling and planning systems
• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, O‑Licence requirements, Road Traffic Act and company tachograph policies
• Deliver a high-quality, first-class service to customers, building confidence through operational knowledge and effective communication
• Manage operational budgets, vehicle checks, hygiene programmes, returns processes and system reporting (Microlise and CRM)
• Drive continuous improvement, positive site culture, environmental initiatives and cross‑site/department collaboration

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• Proven experience working in an operations environment, including transport and/or warehouse operations, with strong transport compliance knowledge
• Demonstrated people management and leadership experience, ideally within a unionised environment
• Experience using computerised planning, scheduling and driver management systems (e.g. Microlise / FTA systems) and a solid understanding of driver targets
• Strong IT skills, including effective use of MS Word and Excel, along with excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities
• Flexible approach to work, with the ability to work shifts including weekends to support a Tuesday–Saturday operation, and a proven commitment to personal development and growth
