DPD is seeking a Transport Manager - Operations to join our Carlisle site. The role involves leading a 24/7 operation, managing a large transport fleet and drivers, and coordinating with hub teams to deliver reliable service.

You will drive performance against KPIs, optimise resources, and uphold safety and environmental standards while mentoring a high-performing team within a dynamic distribution environment.

Qualifications

• Be an experienced logistics professional with strong operational management experience.
• Have proven experience within a similar role having run a vehicle fleet of 400+ vehicles
• Be an effective communicator with an enthusiastic, customer orientated approach
• Have the ability to work under pressure

Responsabilités

• Actively manage the running of the DPD Group Transport fleet and drivers through Shift Managers, Traffic clerks and Senior Drivers.
• Work closely with the Hub Operational Team and Network Management.
• Ensure an efficient service to Hubs, Network Depots and Customers.
• Lead and motivate a large team in pursuit of KPIs and departmental targets.
• Manage employee and vehicle resources, holiday planning, health and safety; ensure policy compliance.
• Ensure department audit results meet company expectations; plan for peak events like Bank Holidays and Cyber Weekend.
• Create and deliver training plans for direct reports to multi-skill the team and enable succession.
• Step up to cover the General Manager's duties when needed.

Job Description

We are delighted to announce that we are currently seeking driven and motivated Transport Manager - Operations to join our team based at our XXXXXXX Site. Our operation runs 24 hours a day, 7 day a week XXXXXXX shift pattern

As the successful Transport Manager - Operations you will report directly to the General Manager - Transport Operationsand you’ll be a key member of the management team, working in a time critical distribution environment. Your key accountabilities will include;

Responsibility for actively managing the running of the DPD Group Transportfleet and drivers through a number of Shift Managers, Traffic clerks and Senior Drivers

Working closely with the Hub Operational Team and Network Management

Ensuring an efficient service to Hubs, Network Depots and Customers.

Leading and motivating a large team in pursuit of KPIs and departmental targets

The management of employee and vehicle resource, holiday planning, health and safety

Ensuring compliance with the company environmental policies and understanding legal requirements

Ensuring that department compliance audit results achieve company expectations

Proactively planning and delivering peak events such as Bank Holidays and Cyber Weekend

Create and deliver training plans for direct reports to multi skill the team and ensure department succession

Step up to cover the roles and duties of the General Manager when they are away from the business

Qualifications

Operating in an environment where working efficiently under pressure and at pace will be key to your success, you should have strong people management experience, involving direct accountability and responsibility for motivating and leading a high performing team. In addition, we’ll also expect you to:

Job Specifics

You will have a thorough induction to the Transport operation as well as a comprehensive induction to DPD.

A Full UK driving Licence is essential for this role
