Job summary

DHL is seeking a Transport First Line Manager in Doncaster. You will lead daily transport activities, ensure regulatory compliance and drive continuous improvement while nurturing a high-performing team in a fast-moving operation.

You will supervise drivers and transport staff, manage HR processes and coordinate with warehouse teams to deliver exceptional service standards in a dynamic environment.

• Proven people management experience within a supply chain environment.
• Experience working in a transport office or wider supply chain operation.
• Strong understanding of working within a unionised environment and building positive working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, implement and coordinate productivity by communicating job expectations to direct line reports, ensuring deadlines are met safely and within time frames.
• Ensure drivers are legally compliant daily and communicate between transport and warehouse functions.
• Lead the work activities of drivers and transport clerical team, providing leadership, communication, motivation, training and development.
• Carry out HR management tasks such as staff reviews, absence management and disciplinaries.

We're looking for a driven and people-focused Transport First Line Manager to join our busy and fast-moving operation. In this pivotal role, you'll lead daily transport activities, ensure compliance and operational excellence, and inspire a high-performing team to deliver outstanding results.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• To supervise, implement and coordinate productivity by communicating job expectations to direct line reports, ensuring that all deadlines are safely met within allocated time frames, while always maintaining standards of excellence
• Ensure drivers are legal and compliant on a daily and weekly basis and ensure clear communication between all functions within the transport department and the warehouse team
• To lead the work activities of the drivers and the transport clerical team, providing effective leadership, communication, motivation, training and development
• Carrying out HR Management tasks such as staff reviews, appraisals, absence management and disciplinaries

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Proven people management experience within a supply chain environment, with the ability to lead, motivate and develop teams
• Previous experience working within a transport office or wider supply chain operation
• Strong understanding of working within a unionised environment and building positive working relationships
• Competent in Microsoft Office applications; experience using Tachomaster is desirable
• Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to embrace change and support the implementation of new processes and ways of working
