Job summary

DHL Supply Chain in Doncaster is seeking a driven Transport First Line Manager to lead daily transport activities, ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-moving operation.

You will manage a high-performing team, oversee night shift duties (4 on/4 off, 17:00–05:00), and partner across transport and warehouse functions to uphold service standards.

The role emphasizes leadership, safety, HR tasks, and implementing new processes in a unionised environment.

Qualifications

• Proven people management experience within a supply chain environment.
• Experience in a transport office or wider supply chain operation.
• Strong understanding of working in a unionised environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; Tachomaster experience is desirable.
• Adaptable and resilient, able to embrace change.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, implement and coordinate productivity while meeting deadlines safely.
• Ensure drivers are legal and compliant daily/weekly and liaise with transport and warehouse teams.
• Lead the work activities of drivers and transport clerical team with effective leadership.
• Carry out HR management tasks such as staff reviews, appraisals, absence management and disciplinaries.

Grade: RCS N Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time) Shift patterns: 4 on, 4 off - Night Shift 17:00 - 05:00 Location: Doncaster - DN3 3FF We're looking for a driven and people-focused Transport First Line Manager to join our busy and fast-moving operation. In this pivotal role, you'll lead daily transport activities, ensure compliance and operational excellence, and inspire a high-performing team to deliver outstanding results. WHAT YOU'LL DO

• To supervise, implement and coordinate productivity by communicating job expectations to direct line reports, ensuring that all deadlines are safely met within allocated time frames, while always maintaining standards of excellence
• Ensure drivers are legal and compliant on a daily and weekly basis and ensure clear communication between all functions within the transport department and the warehouse team
• To lead the work activities of the drivers and the transport clerical team, providing effective leadership, communication, motivation, training and development
• Carrying out HR Management tasks such as staff reviews, appraisals, absence management and disciplinaries

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Proven people management experience within a supply chain environment, with the ability to lead, motivate and develop teams
• Previous experience working within a transport office or wider supply chain operation
• Strong understanding of working within a unionised environment and building positive working relationships
• Competent in Microsoft Office applications; experience using Tachomaster is desirable
• Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to embrace change and support the implementation of new processes and ways of working
