Job summary

Asda is seeking a Transport Department Manager to lead the transport operation within the department, ensuring goods move safely, legally and on time. You will oversee scheduling, vehicle deployment and delivery accuracy while aligning with the depot strategy.

You will report to the Shift Manager and ensure day-to-day transport activity adheres to procedures, safety standards and regulatory requirements. Strong leadership and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with structured transport or logistics procedures.
• Experience supervising colleagues or leading routine operational activity.
• Strong planning skills, including scheduling and prioritising work.
• Understanding of safe systems of work and transport compliance.
• Ability to interpret data, analyse trends, and produce clear reports.
• Strong communication and people support skills.
• Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

You’ll achieve departmental KRAs while supporting our wider depot strategy and ensuring every journey runs smoothly.

Reporting to the Shift Manager, you’ll oversee day-to-day transport activity, from scheduling and vehicle deployment to delivery accuracy. You’ll apply established procedures, carry out routine checks, and ensure full compliance with legal requirements and Asda standards.
