Job summary

Fowler Welch (part of Culina Group) invites applications for a Transport Administrator at our Hilsea site. This full-time 12-month fixed-term role involves dispatch, tracking and reporting to ensure timely deliveries and compliance with procedures.

The salary range is £28,000–£31,000 per annum, with night shifts from Wednesday to Saturday 18:30–06:30. A professional, customer‑focused approach and solid IT skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport management within FMCG is desirable.
• Basic knowledge of tachographs, driving rules and regulations.
• Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
• Professional and approachable character to aid operations.
• Customer service driven with negotiation and influencing skills.
• Good IT skills including MS Office and strong numeracy.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely dispatch of drivers at front desk.
• Track deliveries from depot to customer locations.
• Check and sign driver paperwork on departure.
• Keep transport team and customers informed of delays via email, phone or automated alerts.
• Debrief drivers on return to depot.
• Complete incident and near‑miss reporting paperwork.
• Support drivers with call-outs and breakdowns.
• Assist drivers with defect procedures.
• Maintain ASN notifications.
• Prepare and send daily DOT reports and KPIs.
• Check driver timesheets and download tachographs daily.
• Manage PODs.

Job Description

Our Hilsea site have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Administrator to join our team on a full time 12 month fixed term basis.

As a Transport Administrator you will liaise with drivers and subcontractors to dispatch, track and monitor deliveries to ensure timely delivery to customer locations and ensure accurate reporting in line with all legal, compliance and company procedures.

Salary

£28,000- £31,000 per annum.

Working Hours

Wednesday to Saturday nights, 18.30 - 06.30.

Key Duties of a Transport Administrator

• Ensuring the timely dispatch of drivers at front desk.
• Tracking all deliveries from the depot to customer locations.
• Issuing, checking and signing required driver paperwork upon leaving depot.
• Ensuring the transport team and customers are informed of late or delayed deliveries using the relevant contact method (automated electronic, email and telephone).
• Debriefing drivers upon return to depot.
• Completing accident, incident and near-miss reporting paperwork.
• Providing support to drivers for call-outs and breakdowns.
• Supporting drivers in completing the defect procedure.
• Building and maintaining Automatic System Notifications (ASN’s).
• Compiling and sending daily DOT reports and KPI’s to internal and external customers.
• Checking and collating driver timesheets and downloading Tacho cards on a daily basis.
• POD management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience within a similar transport management position in FMCG environment is desirable.
• Basic knowledge and experience of tachographs, driving rules and regulations.
• Ability to effectively prioritise workloads in order to meet set deadlines.
• Have a professional and approachable character to ensure smooth running of the general operation.
• Be customer service driven with strong negotiating skills and the ability to influence and steer.
• Good IT skills including MS Office with a high level of numeracy and a keen eye for detail.
