Job summary

Neos Networks is seeking an experienced Transmission Team Leader to guide a team of designers and Tier 3 engineers in delivering critical network infrastructure. The role combines technical leadership with people management to shape network strategy, drive innovation and manage risk.

You will lead, coach and develop a high-performing team, oversee resource planning, and ensure designs meet standards, on time and within budget, while building strong internal and vendor relationships.

Qualifications

  • Experience in transmission network design and technical leadership.
  • Exposure to vendor platforms such as Cisco, Nokia and Connection Master.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of network design professionals.
  • Conduct performance reviews and development plans.
  • Manage resource planning and forecasting to meet demand.
  • Oversee network risk management with Operations teams.
  • Drive technical input into RFIs, ITTs, business cases and investments.
  • Support innovation initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
  • Make informed technical and operational decisions to support objectives.
  • Ensure high-quality network designs are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and vendors.
  • Champion best practices and operational excellence in design.

Transmission Team Leader

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Transmission Team Leader to lead a talented team of Designers and Tier 3 network Engineers.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering critical network infrastructure and customer solutions for both internal SSE stakeholders and commercial customers.

You’ll combine strong technical expertise with people leadership, helping to shape network strategy, drive innovation, manage risk, and develop a high-performing team.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Transmission Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of network design professionals.
  • Conducting performance reviews, regular 1:1s and supporting personal development plans.
  • Managing resource planning and forecasting to ensure delivery against business demand.
  • Overseeing network risk management and working closely with Operations teams to mitigate risks.
  • Driving technical input into RFIs, ITTs, business cases and infrastructure investment decisions.
  • Supporting innovation initiatives, new technologies and continuous improvement projects.
  • Making informed technical and operational decisions to support business objectives.
  • Ensuring high-quality network designs are delivered on time, within budget and to agreed standards.
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers and external vendors.
  • Championing best practice, quality standards and operational excellence across the design function.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in transmission network design, technical leadership or management roles.
  • Strong understanding of transmission technologies including:
  • Experience working with vendor platforms such as Cisco, Nokia and Connection Master.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing technical teams.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Degree in Telecommunications, Management, IT or a related discipline.
  • Professional experience within telecoms, utilities or network infrastructure environments.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of fibre network specifications and design standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Visio.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, business-focused recommendations.
