Job summary

Redx Pharma Plc is seeking a Translational Principal Scientist to provide scientific, strategic, and operational leadership for translational research across clinical and late-stage discovery programmes. • PhD in a relevant biological science discipline (Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Immunology or related).
• 5+ years in a senior translational science role in pharma/biotech.

Job description

Reporting directly to the Chief Scientific Officer, the Translational Principal Scientist will provide scientific, strategic, and operational leadership for translational research activities across clinical and late-stage discovery programmes. The successful candidate will develop and execute translational strategies that support clinical development, biomarker implementation, and decision-making for novel therapeutics, with a particular focus on fibrosis.
This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to work closely with Clinical Development, Research, Regulatory, and External Partner teams while shaping the translational direction of key company programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and lead translational science strategies for clinical-stage and late-stage discovery programmes.
• Create and implement comprehensive Translational Science Plans, including biomarker strategies, sample collection plans, data analysis, reporting, and interpretation.
• Provide translational input into clinical protocols, laboratory manuals, and study documentation to ensure exploratory and biomarker objectives are achieved.
• Oversee the collection, shipment, tracking, and management of clinical samples.
• Select, manage, and oversee external vendors and CROs responsible for clinical sample analyses.
• Provide expert scientific guidance on translational research approaches relevant to fibrosis and related disease areas.
• Lead biomarker strategy development across multiple projects, providing scientific direction and leadership to cross-functional teams.
• Ensure delivery of translational milestones in alignment with overall development plans and project timelines.
• Maintain awareness of evolving US, European, and international regulatory requirements relevant to translational research and in vitro diagnostics, communicating any implications for current or future programmes.
• Establish and manage productive relationships with CROs, academic collaborators, key opinion leaders, and commercial partners.
• Support Business Development activities by representing Redx's translational science capabilities to potential collaborators and partners.
• Present translational findings and recommendations to project teams and senior leadership.

Candidate Profile

• PhD in a relevant biological science discipline such as Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Immunology, or related field.
• More than 5 years of experience in a senior translational science role within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector.
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing translational strategies to support drug development programmes.
• Strong understanding of biomarker discovery, validation, and implementation in clinical studies.
• Experience working with external CROs, laboratories, and clinical vendors.
• Excellent scientific communication, data interpretation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently while leading cross-functional teams and influencing strategic decisions.
• Knowledge of the global regulatory landscape governing biomarkers
• Experience supporting early-phase and proof-of-concept clinical studies.
• Established external network within translational medicine and biomarker research.
